Further information: This significant project space in Belgium was commemorated in a recent exhibition at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (nbk) in Berlin. The exhibition, titled A 37 90 89: The Invention of the Neo-Avant-Garde, was dedicated to the space’s history and development. In their press release, nbk states that A 37 90 89 had a decisive influence on the development of project spaces worldwide, creating models for alternative art spaces, producer galleries, and participatory initiatives. Initiated by a progressive group of collectors, gallery owners, and art mediators, and supervised by Kasper König, the A 37 90 89 project space developed a diverse curatorial practice that tested alternative models of art production and art mediation beyond the institutions.
