Further Information: This invitation card was printed for the first collaboration between Galerie van de Loo and Gruppe SPUR. SPUR was founded in 1957 as a politically active group of painters and sculptors who had met at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. Between 1959–62, members of SPUR publicly represented German positions in relation to the Situationist International, which also included members of CoBrA and several artists and intellectuals close to Guy Debord. The leftist activist Dieter Kunzelmann joined the group for two years, writing several texts and manifestos to accompanying the group’s exhibitions. After 1965, the group dissolved, fusing with another group from Munich called Wir, jointly forming the Geflecht group, which remained active until 1968.
